Synopsis "Kudrun (in German)"

Das steigende Interesse der Forschung am Nibelungenlied und an Problemen der Heldendichtung lenkt auch vermehrte Aufmerksamkeit auf die Kudrun. Das Gedicht, unter starkem Einfluß des Nibelungenliedes entstanden und in einer aus der Nibelungenstrophe entwickelten Strophenform abgefaßt, bietet zugleich ein Gegenbild zu dem älteren Heldenepos. Nicht der Untergang der heroischen Welt ist Ziel der Handlung, sondern ihre Ablösung durch den neuen, milderen Geist höfischer Gesittung. In seinem Hauptteil preist das Gedicht die Überlegenheit weiblicher Leidensfähigkeit und Standhaftigkeit über das blutige Heldenwesen des versinkenden Zeitalters.
