Synopsis "La muerte es una vieja historia (in Spanish)"

Un violador acecha a las mujeres en el cementerio de Antofagasta. Las víctimas declaran haber sido arrastradas al interior de un mausoleo por un sujeto de voz aterradora y que huele a muerto. Para encontrar al culpable es contratado el Tira Gutiérrez, único investigador privado de la ciudad que hasta ese momento solo se ha dedicado a resolver casos de infidelidades; un detective por correspondencia, ex minero que al verse desempleado opta por dedicarse a su pasión secreta: resolver crímenes. En este caso es asistido por la hermana Tegualda, una joven religiosa que, bajo su ropa de penitente, tiene más sensualidad y habilidades deductivas de las que ni ella misma se imagina.

Hernán Rivera Letelier (Talca, 1950) is a distinguished miner, writer, and Chilean poet. His works, influenced by magical realism, often recount his experiences as a worker in the nitrate mines of the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile.
Among his most acclaimed novels are, La reina Isabel cantaba rancheras (1994), La contadora de películas (2009), and El arte de la resurrección (2010), winner of the Alfaguara Novel Prize.
In addition to his numerous awards, in 2001 he was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the Ministry of Culture of France, and in 2022 he received the National Literature Prize of Chile, consolidating his position as one of the most important authors of contemporary Chilean literature.
