Hercílio Maes (1913–1993) was an influential Brazilian medium and writer, widely known for channeling the teachings of the spirit Ramatis. Born in Curitiba, Paraná, he was professionally trained as a lawyer and accountant, though his true calling was mediumship. From an early age, he showed spiritual sensitivity and throughout his life delved into various esoteric currents, including Spiritism, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Umbanda, and Freemasonry. His universalist and syncretic approach attracted readers beyond traditional Kardecist Spiritism.

Through psychography —mediumistic writing— Maes published more than twenty works dictated by Ramatis, addressing topics such as reincarnation, life on other planets, the energetic structure of the human being, spiritual health, and the destiny of humanity. Among his most famous titles are Life on the Planet Mars, Physiology of the Soul, The Gospel in the Light of the Cosmos, and Magic of Redemption.

His style, accessible and profound, generally adopts a question-and-answer format, facilitating the understanding of complex concepts. Hercílio Maes left a significant legacy in Portuguese-speaking spiritual literature, being a reference for a broader and more cosmic vision of spirituality.
