Édouard Schuré (Estrasburgo, 1841 – París, 1929) fue un escritor francés polifacético: filósofo, poeta, dramaturgo, novelista, crítico musical y figura destacada de la literatura esotérica. Tras estudiar Derecho, se volcó hacia la música y el simbolismo, llegando a ser uno de los primeros difusores en Francia de Richard Wagner. Su pasión espiritual lo llevó a unirse al esoterismo: su obra más célebre, Los grandes iniciados (1889), traza un viaje profundo a través de figuras místicas como Orfeo, Krishna o Moisés en busca del conocimiento secreto que cimenta las grandes religiones.

En 1919 escribió Leonardo da Vinci y los Profetas del Renacimiento, donde presenta con lirismo a Da Vinci, Rafael, Miguel Ángel y otros como portadores de un renacimiento espiritual que unifica arte y misterio. Su legado se extiende desde el teatro místico hasta la introspección filosófica: desplegó su búsqueda en múltiples géneros —novelas, ensayos, traducciones y teatro— forjando una literatura que busca despertar la visión interior sin ceñirse a lo mundano.
