En el semestre de verano de 1829 Hegel se ocupó en sus clases de las pruebas de la existencia de Dios. Fruto de aquel magisterio son estas dieciséis lecciones que pertenecen al ámbito de la filosofía de la religión, aunque tienden un puente hacia la lógica. En ellas se esboza el camino que va de la certeza sensible hasta el saber absoluto y, de alguna manera, se invita a pasar de la conciencia natural hasta el nivel de la ciencia. Las lecciones tocan el corazón del sistema hegeliano. De hecho, no sólo se lleva a cabo una recepción lúcida de la crítica que Kant hace a las pruebas, sino que se supera dicha crítica ejercitando el pensamiento especulativo y confrontándolo precisamente con el pensar del entendimiento, es decir, con el pensar finito. Georg W. F. Hegel (Stuttgart 1770 - Berlín 1831) representa la cumbre del idealismo alemán. Su influencia ha marcado el desarrollo de la filosofía posterior. Gabriel Amengual Coll (Santa Eugenia / Mallorca, 1943) es catedrático de Filosofía en la Universidad de las Islas Baleares.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) was a German philosopher, one of the most influential figures of German idealism. He studied at the Tübinger Stift alongside Friedrich Hölderlin and Friedrich Schelling, developing a philosophical system based on dialectics, where the unfolding of history and reality are explained through contradiction and its resolution. He was a professor at the University of Jena and later at the University of Berlin, where his thought gained great influence.

Among his most notable works are Phenomenology of Spirit (1807), Science of Logic (1812-1816), and Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences (1817). He also published Lectures on the Philosophy of History (1837) and Lectures on the History of Philosophy (1833-1836, compiled posthumously). His philosophy has been fundamental in multiple currents of modern thought, including Marxism and existentialism.
