Let My People Celebrate. A Storytelling Haggadah for the Whole Family
Jonathan Shmidt Chapman;César Garcés (Author) · Behrman House · Paperback
Make this seder different from other seders. This year, keep younger children around the Passover table rather than hiding under it by transforming your seder into an interactive, playful, and affecting experience that everybody in attendance can enjoy. Celebrate across generations!
Let My People Celebrate immerses young children and their families in meaningful, play-based seder activities while providing a complete seder for adults and older children. Approximately 45 minutes to complete, the Haggadah engages children yet has the depth to be relevant for adults. The Exodus story forms the foundation of the experience, enhanced with short, purposeful role plays, intriguing questions, and descriptions of Seder customs from around the world.
By crafting meaningful yet simple seder activities that bring the story of Passover to life, author Jonathan Shmidt Chapman shares his background as an award-winning theater educator. His theatrical work for children and families has been presented by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Alliance Theatre, and Seattle Children’s Theatre.
A how-to guide to preparing a seder, a list of all the materials for the activities, plus a collection of favorite Passover songs, provides everything needed for a stress-free and joyful Passover. A QR code leads to music and sound effects.
The Haggadah, although mainly in English, includes Hebrew and transliteration for the blessings and other ritual elements.
