Synopsis "Lotus op Mijn Palm (in Dutch)"

De lotusbloem in mijn handpalm is de vertaling van de oorspronkelijk in het Assamees geschreven dichtbundel Karatala Kamala, samengesteld door Devajit Bhuyan. De uniciteit van het oorspronkelijke boek ligt in het feit dat het is geschreven zonder het "kar"-teken, dat veel voorkomt in Indiase talen zoals Sanskriet, Assamees, Bengaals, Hindi, Gujarati, enz. Het "kar"-teken of symbool wordt in Indiase talen gebruikt in plaats van de klinkers die in het Engels worden gebruikt. De lotusbloem in mijn handpalm is geen letterlijke vertaling van het oorspronkelijke Assamees, omdat het niet mogelijk is het boek te vertalen zonder gebruik te maken van de klinkers A, E, I, O, U. Alleen het thema en de betekenis van de gedichten zijn intact gebleven, omdat dezelfde auteur het vanuit de oorspronkelijke Assamees heeft vertaald. Voor Karatala Kamala werd Devajit Bhuyan in 2022 bekroond als Dichter van het Jaar op het Kolkata Literary Carnival (KLC). Het oorspronkelijke boek werd enorm populair in Assam, omdat het het eerste boek in deze stijl is dat in 600 jaar is geschreven sinds het vertrek van Sankardeva, die deze stijl introduceerde en die later in onbruik raakte.
