Mark Schultz (nacido en 1955 en las afueras de Filadelfia, Estados Unidos) es un dibujante, guionista e ilustrador reconocido por su estilo detallado y su enfoque clásico de la narrativa gráfica. Creció cerca de Pittsburgh y, desde joven, se sintió atraído por la ilustración fantástica, la ciencia ficción y el arte pulp que marcaría profundamente su obra futura. Tras estudiar Bellas Artes, trabajó durante varios años como ilustrador comercial antes de volcarse de lleno en el mundo del cómic.

En 1987 publicó Xenozoic Tales, la serie que lo consagraría a nivel internacional. Ambientada en un futuro postapocalíptico donde la Tierra ha sido repoblada por criaturas prehistóricas, la obra destaca por su imaginación visual, su meticuloso trabajo de línea y su mezcla de aventura, ecología y ciencia ficción. El éxito de la serie la convirtió en un clásico del cómic independiente y consolidó a Schultz como un referente del género.

A lo largo de su carrera ha trabajado también en franquicias como Aliens, Predator, Star Wars, Tarzan y Superman, demostrando gran versatilidad como artista y guionista. Además, ha ilustrado libros, portadas y obras de fantasía realista que revelan su pasión por la anatomía, la composición clásica y la narrativa visual.

Hoy es considerado una figura clave del cómic moderno y un maestro del arte ilustrado.
