Paratilapia sp. "Fiamanga" galt mehrere Jahre lang in der Natur als verschollen, bevor sie 2010 von zwei Fischern aus Ambohimahamasy (Herr André und Herr Modeste), die Fischzucht betreiben, wiederentdeckt wurde. Diese Art wurde in die Fischzucht eingeführt. Das Risiko ihres Aussterbens verringert sich allmählich aufgrund ihrer Zucht in Gefangenschaft und ihrer Auswilderung in die freie Wildbahn. Bei mehr oder weniger gleichen Bedingungen wie in der natürlichen Umgebung hat diese Art eine tägliche Wachstumsrate von 0,8 Gramm pro Tag.
