Is Paul's love for Dassie enough to defeat Jesse's designs on the innocent girl? Paul has his doubts, even with the unconditional support of his partner, FBI agent Sharon Brandon. This psychological thriller, though filled with violent behavior almost beyond imagining. As fantastic as the premise is, the science of the brain makes the story all too plausible. Jesse has genetic defects, a complete lack of childhood nurturing, and a personality which is marked by a complete disregard for basic rights of other human beings. His story, while fiction, has been repeated all too many times in real life.
