Rex Brown (Graham, Texas, 27 de julio de 1964) es un músico, compositor y autor estadounidense especialmente conocido por haber sido el bajista de la influyente banda de heavy metal Pantera desde 1982 hasta su disolución en 2003.

Brown comenzó en la música desde muy joven y desarrolló su estilo tocando el bajo desde los doce años, influenciado por bandas clásicas de rock y metal. Con Pantera, ayudó a definir el sonido del groove metal, aportando líneas de bajo potentes y precisas que complementaban los solos del guitarrista Dimebag Darrell y la batería de Vinnie Paul.

Tras la ruptura de Pantera, Rex formó parte de otros proyectos como Down y Kill Devil Hill, y ha colaborado con diversos artistas dentro de la escena del metal y el rock. En 2013 publicó su autobiografía Official Truth 101 Proof, donde narra la historia de su vida y la trayectoria de Pantera.

En 2017 lanzó su primer álbum en solitario, Smoke on This..., donde además de tocar el bajo asumió también las funciones de vocalista y guitarrista.

Reconocido por su técnica sólida, su presencia en escena y su contribución al metal, Rex Brown es considerado uno de los bajistas más importantes dentro del género.
