Hidenori Kusaka nació el 18 de mayo de 1970 en Tokio, Japón. Es un escritor y guionista de manga japonés, reconocido principalmente por ser el autor de Pokémon Adventures, conocido en Japón como Pocket Monsters Special.

Antes de dedicarse plenamente al manga, Kusaka trabajó relacionado con publicaciones infantiles de la editorial Shogakukan. En 1997 comenzó la publicación de Pokémon Adventures, una serie basada en los videojuegos de Pokémon. Para desarrollar las historias, se inspiró en los juegos y procuró mantener elementos de su universo, pero creando aventuras y personajes propios.

Los primeros nueve volúmenes de Pokémon Adventures fueron ilustrados por Mato, mientras que posteriormente Satoshi Yamamoto tomó el relevo. Kusaka también escribió mangas relacionados con Pokémon Ranger y participó como asesor en otros proyectos de Pokémon.

En 2016 recibió, junto con Satoshi Yamamoto, el Inkpot Award de Comic-Con International. Su trayectoria ha convertido a Pokémon Adventures en una de las adaptaciones de Pokémon más conocidas del manga. Kusaka continúa siendo reconocido por su aporte a la expansión del universo de Pokémon mediante el manga.
