Nothapodytes nimmoniana Graham ist eine wichtige indische Heilpflanze mit einem hohen Gehalt an dem Chinolinalkaloid Camptothecin, das als das vielversprechendste Krebsmedikament des 21. Jahrhunderts gilt. Camptothecin (CPT), ein monoterpenes Indolalkaloid, ist eines der vielversprechendsten Krebsmedikamente des 21. Jahrhunderts. Obwohl CPT laut Berichten in mehreren Arten vorkommt, wurde die höchste Konzentration in Nothapodytes nimmoniana gefunden, einem kleinen Baum, der in den Westghats Indiens verbreitet ist.
