Rodolfo Walsh (Lamarque, 1927 – Buenos Aires, 1977) was an Argentine journalist, writer, and activist, considered a pioneer of narrative journalism in Latin America. His most emblematic work, Operation Massacre (1957), is recognized as the first non-fiction novel in the Hispanic American sphere, predating Truman Capote's In Cold Blood. In it, Walsh exposed the clandestine shootings of civilians during the 1956 dictatorship. His political commitment led him to join the Montoneros organization and, in 1977, he was murdered by the military dictatorship after publishing his famous Open Letter from a Writer to the Military Junta.

Among his most notable works are: Variations in Red (1953), a collection of detective stories; Who Killed Rosendo? (1969), an investigation into the murder of union leader Rosendo García; The Satanowsky Case (1973), about the homicide of lawyer Marcos Satanowsky; and A Kilo of Gold (1967), a book of stories that includes "The Earthly Professions" and "Footnote". His output spans genres such as chronicle, short story, and political essay, cementing his legacy as a key figure in committed literature and journalism in Argentina.
