El particular interés con que Freud consideraba las operaciones fallidas se debía, sin duda, al hecho de que, junto con los sueños, le permitieron extender a la vida anímica normal sus descubrimientos en relación con las neurosis. Por este motivo, solía recurrir a ellas como el material más idóneo para introducir los hallazgos del psicoanálisis a estudiosos que no eran médicos. Se trataba de un material simple y a la vez inobjetable, -olvidos, deslices en la escritura, recuerdos encubridores, errores, operaciones fallidas entre otros- y concernía a fenómenos que todo individuo normal había vivenciado y que permitían a Freud demostrar la existencia de dos modalidades distintas de funcionamiento psíquico, que él llamó “proceso primario” y “proceso secundario”.

Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis. His work falls within the genre of psychology and philosophy of mind, revolutionizing the understanding of the unconscious. Among his most influential books are The Interpretation of Dreams (1899), Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality (1905), and Civilization and Its Discontents (1930). Throughout his career, Freud developed key concepts such as the id, the ego, and the superego, in addition to the theory of the Oedipus complex. His ideas influenced multiple disciplines, from literature to modern psychiatry.
