Lucy Maud Montgomery fue una periodista y novelista canadiense, especialmente reconocida por las novelas de _Ana de las Tejas Verdes_. Su madre murió cuando Lucy tenía veintiún meses y su padre se marchó a hacer fortuna y la dejó a cargo de sus abuelos, lo cual sin duda influyó en la futura creación de su personaje más popular.
