The definition, translation, and implementation of what resiliency really means when used to reflect the ability of Army families and soldiers is what this research is seeking. The need for a doctrinal template for the roles, responsibilities, requirement and employment of Rear Detachment must be established. The current doctrine and the way the Rear Detachment is used, does not address building family resiliency. These are the gaps that will be examined: (1) development of Rear Detachment leaders; (2) soldiers family team link toward resiliency; and (3) how the Rear Detachment can be used as an asset in building family resiliency.This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
