Marcello Musto es un académico y ensayista italiano especializado en historia del pensamiento socialista y en la obra de Karl Marx. Su investigación se centra en rescatar al pensador alemán desde una perspectiva rigurosa y crítica, alejándose de simplificaciones ideológicas y mostrando la vigencia de sus escritos en la comprensión del mundo contemporáneo. Ejemplo de ello es su libro Karl Marx. Biografía intelectual y política, 1857-1883, donde analiza en detalle los últimos años de Marx, destacando la profundidad de su trabajo más allá de los estereotipos habituales.
