Synopsis "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde"

"If he be Mr. Hyde" he had thought, "I shall be Mr. Seek." -Robert Louis Stevenson, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886)Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886) is one of the most classic horror stories of all time, by Robert Louis Stevenson. It tells the story of John Gabriel Utterson, a London lawyer, who investigates strange events surrounding his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll, and the evil Edward Hyde, who turn out to be two alter egos of the same person. "Jekyll and Hyde" has now become a popular idiom describing someone with a split personality: outwardly good, but inwardly evil. This gothic novella is a must-read for fans of Robert Louis Stevenson and horror stories.

(Edinburgh, 1850 - Samoa, 1894) British novelist, short story writer, poet, and essayist. He entered the University of Edinburgh at the age of sixteen to follow in his father's footsteps and become a lighthouse engineer, a career he would later abandon. His nautical studies allowed him to come into contact with seafaring people and customs, key ingredients in some of his most famous works. His renowned work, Treasure Island, was published under the pseudonym Captain George North in 1881. In 1886, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, one of the great classics of literature, was released. He died on the island of Samoa, at his home, Vailima.
