It is also one of the largest industries in India as in many other countries. As of 2010, India is home to a vibrant automobile of more than 40 million vehicles. More than 3.7 million automotive vehicles were produced in India in 2010 (an increase of 33.9%), making our country the second (after China) among the fastest growing automobile market in the world (Gulati, 2010). Thus, it plays a major role in the growth of economy in India. The industry accounts for 22 per cent of the country's manufacturing gross domestic product (GDP). It comprises passenger cars, two-wheelers, three-wheelers and commercial vehicles and is currently the seventh-largest producer of automobiles in the world.
