Juan Cristóbal Peña (Santiago de Chile, 1969) is a journalist and author of the books Cecilia: The Life in Flames (2002) and The Riflemen (2007). He worked as a TV scriptwriter and teacher and published chronicles and reports in printed media from Chile and Latin America. He won the Lorenzo Natali Grand Prize from the European Union Development Commission; the New Journalism Award from the New Ibero-American Journalism Foundation led by Gabriel García Márquez; and the Excellence in Journalism Award from the Alberto Hurtado University. His chronicles and reports were compiled in books such as Anthology of Latin American Chronicle (2012), The Real Cases of The Cardinal Files (2011), The Journalism that Shakes Chile (2010), The Best of Journalism in Latin America I and II (2006 and 2010), and The Best of Chilean Journalism (2003, 2009, 2010, and 2012)
