Me uní a la Policía de Nueva Gales del Sur en 1992 donde vi algunos de los peores aspectos de la vida. Lo más perturbador para mí fueron los incidentes de abuso sexual infantil. Así que cuando tuve mis propios tres hijos, era consciente de la necesidad de no solo proteger a mis niños, sino de enseñarles a protegerse ellos mismos.

Creo que, aunque el mundo tiene sus defectos, la mayoría de las personas son de buen corazón y que tener una perspectiva optimista, realista y educada es el camino hacia el éxito. Esta es la esencia de cómo quería enseñar a mis hijos sobre la vida y también sobre el tema de proteger sus partes privadas.

En 2011, renuncié a la fuerza policial porque tuvimos una maravillosa oportunidad de vivir en Londres durante 4 años. Durante este período hubo muchos casos de abuso sexual infantil ampliamente publicitados en las noticias, cometidos por individuos e instituciones de alto perfil a lo largo de muchas décadas. Descubrí que muchas madres pedían mi consejo sobre cómo podían proteger y enseñar a sus hijos de manera suave y no confrontativa.

Con mi experiencia directa en abuso sexual infantil, educación en criminología, enseñanza y psicología mezclada con el sentido del humor de mi esposo, su experiencia docente y rima ridícula, ¡My Underpants RULE! nació.

Aunque me encantaba servir en la Policía, el trabajo de un oficial es reactivo por naturaleza. Me siento inspirada por hacer una contribución al mundo que es proactiva y tiene el potencial de cambiar significativamente la vida de los niños para tener una mayor oportunidad de felicidad, confianza y éxito.
