The Midnight Escape - Global Writers Project

Four boarding school students; Joyce, Thelma, Ekyaa, and Ayeley-plot to sneak past their strict housemaster, Mr. Koomson, to attend the concert of the year. For one glorious night, they believe they have successfully escaped the rigid confinement of their school compound.

But the return journey ends in a trap. Betrayed by their quiet classmate, Sylvia, the girls are caught by Mr. Koomson the moment they arrive back at the fence. Instead of immediate expulsion, the housemaster subjects them to a subtle, psychological punishment: sorting through the school’s forgotten archives.

Forced into the dark, the friends must confront the fragility of their loyalty and the reality of being under constant observation. Mr. Koomson’s challenge is not just to clear the archives, but to decide if their bond can survive the truth of their own choices. The Midnight Escape is a tense, character-driven story about the high price of rebellion and the weight of institutional control.
