Synopsis "The Pueblo Zoo Through the Years: An Inside Look"

Join the authors in an intimate journey that begins with a small group of dedicated people. Their influence, boldness, and sheer perseverance transformed a small, disorganized collection of animals in Pueblo, Colorado into a modern zoo facility that is nationally accredited. The Pueblo Zoological Society worked diligently to earn the respect and support of the local community and the confidence of government officials. By means of an innovative public-private partnership, the Society developed an outstanding facility dedicated to preserving endangered species and to educating visitors in making a personal difference in the care of the Earth. The story begins with the founding of the Pueblo Zoo over a century ago and recalls many of the challenges overcome in transforming the Zoo from its primitive origins into a sophisticated operation. The authors also share some of their fascinating, funny, and even sad experiences from their more than two decades in zoo management.
