Synopsis "This Is My Story and I'm Sticking to It!"

This Is My Story and I'm Sticking to It! is the marvelously entertaining life story of Malvin W. Smith, Master Chief Hospital Corpsman, USN (Ret.). His journey of over eighty years is colored with many anecdotes along the way. Twenty-two of those years were spent in active duty with the US Navy, with six of those years spent serving alongside Marine Corps units. While the author believed himself to be a quiet, reserved person, he joined the Navy just shy of his eighteenth birthday and his years in service, some spent in war zones, actually prove him to be quite adventurous. He writes, "I don't think my life has been other than rather ordinary. During those years, I have been privileged to visit many places, see many things, and do many things. Some places the visit was short, like breakfast in the Azores, a night in Paris, a week in Sydney, and more extended periods in Korea, Egypt, and Vietnam." Follow along and take pleasure in the memories crafted in a quirky style, which make this work an enjoyable reading experience. About the Author Born in 1931, the author spent twenty-two years, nearly a quarter of his life, on Active Duty as a US Navy Hospital Corpsman. Some of his assignments were Korea and Vietnam with the First Marine Division; Cairo, Egypt, with Naval Medical Research Unit #3; Naval Medical School (Clinical Lab and Blood Banking, both as student and staff); National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD; and Headquarters, Marine Air Reserve Training Command, Naval Air Station, Glenview, Illinois. After several people suggested he should write a book because of the interesting stories he shared, he finally decided to do so and share his experiences with others. Malvin Smith passed away December 20, 2015. He was a gentle man and a gentleman. He will be missed.
