Dieses Buch widmet sich der Rezeption des Lyrikers Thomas Kling (1957-2005), einer zentralen Figur der neueren deutschsprachigen Lyrik. Es beleuchtet die Einflüsse, die seine innovative Poetik geprägt haben, und deren Rezeption durch zwei aufeinanderfolgende Generationen von Lyriker*innen. In Anlehnung an Christopher Beachs Studie der Pound'schen Tradition entwickelt das Buch ein alternatives Modell des poetischen Einflusses und der literarischen Tradition. Anders als Harold Bloom, der die Literatur- als Konfliktgeschichte liest, bestimmt dieses Modell das Verhältnis von Lyriker*innen gegenüber ihren Vorgänger*innen und Zeitgenoss*innen nicht nur als aktiv und positiv, sondern - unter Bezugnahme auf Pierre Bourdieus Feldtheorie - auch als soziologisches Phänomen. This book examines the reception of the poet Thomas Kling (1957-2005), a figure of pivotal importance in the development of German poetry. It traces the influences on Kling's innovative poetics through to his reception by two following generations of German poets. Drawing on Christopher Beach's study of the Pound tradition, the book develops an alternative model of poetic influence. Unlike Harold Bloom's conflict-driven view of literary history, this model understands the relationship between poets, their predecessors, and their contemporaries not only as active and positive, but - by drawing on Pierre Bourdieu's field theory - also as driven by sociological factors.
