ROBERT D. KAPLAN (New York, 1952) is a journalist, geopolitical analyst, traveler, and writer. Regular editor and contributor in specialized press and other media, he has worked as a correspondent in various countries for more than two decades, has been a professor of National Security at the Annapolis Naval Academy, and a member of the advisory council of the U.S. Department of Defense. Thanks to his essays on international relations and power in the United States, Foreign Policy magazine has included him in the list of the "Top 100 Global Thinkers" on two occasions.
