Writing a book was something I had always thought of but never had the time or main idea for. Many ladies at church have asked me before, "How was it to raise such a large family?" or "Was it difficult to be raised in the US and later raise your children in South America?" Both questions have always been yes and no--yes, because many times, I was the only one with the kids, and yes, because it was a culture shock for me as well. But my faith and the support of my church were there all the time. My husband and I drink mate (Uruguayan drink) every morning, and we talk about our daily activities and give each other ideas on how to handle them. We also try our best to keep a constant prayer life, and we have learned from our many mistakes.When Grandma Reads the Bible was something that came to me at prayer on a Sunday evening. We don't pray because we have a problem; we pray because we need to be closer to God to clear those problems, and good communication with the Creator keeps us connected to him. As I prayed one afternoon--it was early and no one had arrived--I prayed about my children and grandchildren to have the communication I feel with God. Not only my family because sometimes, I feel like a grandma to some of the Sunday school kids. I felt a voice say, "When Grandma reads the Bible, and that is how it came to be, and here we are." I hope these books can give families the perspective of what may have gone through the minds of men and women whose lives are written in this beautiful book.
