Synopsis "Women's Words"

Women's Words collects the writing of members of the Vero Beach Branch of the American Association of University Women, with most but not all contributions coming from members of the branch's Creative Writers group. Established in 1964, the Vero Beach Branch has a long tradition of supporting diverse interest and study groups, each of which focuses on a specific topic of mutual interest. International relations, adult literacy, and youth mentoring are among the topics pursued, while reading and duplicate bridge groups as well as the "lunch bunch" provide occasions for members to meet for friendship, fun and dialogue. The Vero Beach Branch Creative Writers group was formed in 1977. Since then, its members have held myriad meetings, shared innumerable vibrant dialogues and polished countless pieces of writing. In the past, some of those pieces were published in the group's Tide Lines journals and book. As 2017, the group's fortieth anniversary, approached, it seemed time for a new collection. Bringing together pieces of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction with illustrations, Women's Words celebrates the creativity of the Vero Beach Branch, the proud heritage of the AAUW, and the vibrant community of Indian River County.
