Synopsis "Wörtliche Bilder (in German)"

Der um 830 im Pariser Raum im Umfeld Hilduins von Saint-Denis entstandene Stuttgarter Bilderpsalter enthält mit über 300 in den Psaltertext eingestreuten Miniaturen den umfangreichsten Bildzyklus aus dem 9. Jahrhundert. Besonders signifikant ist der hohe Anteil reiner Wortillustrationen, die eine Konzeption repräsentieren, die im hohen und späten Mittelalter weitgehend durch allegorische, dezidiert christologisch orientierte Bildprogramme verdrängt werden. Heinzers Studie gilt besonders der Frage nach der Funktion derartiger "wörtlicher Bilder". Diese werden im Horizont karolingerzeitlicher Übersetzungsstrategien (Hilduin!) im Sinne einer Text-Verdoppelung gedeutet und als gleichsam körperliches Beim-Wort-Nehmen des heiligen Texts mit magisch konnotierten Gebrauchsformen des Psalmenbuchs in Verbindung gebracht.
