Allan Kozinn
Allan Kozinn covered music and culture at the New York Times from 1977 to 2014, including 21 years as a critic and two years covering general culture. In a career spanning over 50 years, he has also written about classical and popular music for dozens of publications in the United States, Britain, and Japan. Since leaving the Times, he has primarily covered music for the Wall Street Journal.

Allan earned degrees in music and journalism from Syracuse University and has published several books, including: The McCartney Legacy Vol. 1 1969-1973 (the first installment of an ongoing series he is writing with Adrian Sinclair), Spoleto 40, Essential New York Times Library: Classical Music, The Beatles: From the Cavern to the Rooftop, You've Got That Something: How the Beatles' 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' Changed Everything, Mischa Elman and the Romantic Style, and The Guitar: The History, The Players, The Music (with Gene Santoro, Pete Welding, and Dan Forte. He has also taught music and criticism courses at New York University and the Juilliard School, and has been awarded the ASCAP/Deems Taylor Award for outstanding musical coverage twice.
