Carlos Sampayo
(Buenos Aires, 1943), writer and screenwriter, is the author of novels, short stories, poetry, and comic and film scripts. He is also a jazz specialist, on which he has published essays and fiction, and directed and coordinated encyclopedias, such as Masters of Jazz, Jazz Dictionary, and The Hundred Best Jazz Albums. His work has been widely published in America and Europe. In 1974, he met his compatriot José Muñoz, with whom he began to bring to life the famous detective Alack Sinner. Sampayo has collaborated with Igort on a comic biography of Fats Waller, and with Oscar Zárate on the books Three Artists in Paris, Fly Blues, and La faille. He currently lives between Barcelona and Buenos Aires.
