Carlos Tromben was born in Valparaíso and is a commercial engineer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and holds a master's degree in Communications from the Paris School of Commerce. He has combined literature with investigative journalism in economic and financial topics. Among his books, Crónica Secreta de la Economía Chilena (2016) and Pescado rabioso, leyes de pesca y luchas de poder (2018) stand out. He became a national bestseller with the novels Huáscar (2015), Balmaceda (2016), and Santa María de Iquique (2017). He is currently a professor at the University of Santiago de Chile, a contributor to the digital media Interferencia, and co-founder, along with Ignacio Schiappacasse, of the Foundation for Transparency.
