Before settling in Chile, he was a postdoctoral researcher for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in the Department of Science & Technology Studies at Cornell and later a lecturer in the History of Science & History of Medicine Program at Yale
He has published extensively on topics related to the history of technology, particularly biometric identification systems. His works have appeared in journals such as Journal of Social History; História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos; Unisinos; The American Historical Review; History Compass; among others
Recently, he has received funding from the Chilean government through ANID and a Fondecyt project to study the formation of the global ice market in the South Pacific
