Los hermanos gemelos Paul y Gaetan Brizzi nacieron en una familia italiana en 1951 y se criaron en París, donde estudiaron en la Escuela Nacional Superior de Artes Decorativas. Unieron sus pasiones por las Bellas Artes y el cine cuando decidieron convertirse en directores de animación.
En 1974, su primer corto Un fue aclamado por la crítica y percibido como una revelación del género por la prensa.
