Synopsis "Der Rückkehrer (in German)"

Nach 30 Jahren kehrt der an Leukämie erkrankte Dr. Borro Banday nach Karachi zurück, um seine Mutter um eine Stammzellspende zu bitten. Sein sadistischer Stiefvater ergreift die Chance, durch dessen Entführung Geld zu erpressen. Im Kellerverlies denkt Borro an seine Vergangenheit zurück. Schon als Kind muss er als Fahrrad-Rikscha-Fahrer Geld für die neunköpfige Familie verdienen. Dabei lernt er ein deutsches Ärztepaar kennen, das in der Lepra- und TBC-Station arbeitet. Zu dessen siebenjährigen Tochter fühlt er sich von Anfang an hingezogen. Beide werden unzertrennliche Spielkameraden, bis fünf Jahre später ein indischer Bombenangriff alles zerstört.
