La ILÍADA es un relato que nos cuenta lo que sucedió durante las últimas semanas de la guerra de Troya, en la que se enfrentaron griegos y troyanos. La ciudad de Troya, que está en Asia Menor, se llamaba también Ilión, y por eso esta historia lleva el título de Ilíada. ¿Pero cómo empieza la Ilíada? Con la furia del más grande de los héroes griegos, Aquiles, por la ofensa que le hizo el rey Agamenón. ¡Cuánto daño iba a causar! Las bellas palabras con las que Homero cantó esa historia la han dejado impresa en la arena del tiempo. Aunque nada se sabe con certeza, parece que hacia el siglo VIII antes de Cristo, un juglar griego llamado Homero –del que se dice que era ciego– compuso un espléndido poema titulado la Ilíada, donde se cuentan las hazañas de Aquiles y de otros héroes en la guerra de Troya. Se dice también que Homero creó después la Odisea, una historia que narra las aventuras que vivió Odiseo –Ulises– desde que se marchó de Troya –acabada la guerra– hasta que llegó, diez años después, a su patria, Ítaca. Las dos obras fueron primero poemas orales, que se cantaban, y más tarde se escribirían. Pero lo cierto es que nada de esto es seguro, porque hay quien dice incluso que Homero no existió… Basta, por tanto, que sepáis que la Ilíada es un poema maravilloso, que fue compuesto hace muchos, muchísimos años: ¡casi tres mil! La Ilíada está escrita en griego, en 15.693 versos.

She is a professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Barcelona, where she taught from 1969 to 2018, and is now professor emeritus. She has edited many texts from the Golden Age. Additionally, she is the author of numerous philological essays. In 2005, she began her work as an adapter of classic texts for children and for all audiences: from Don Quixote Told to Children (2005) to The Metamorphoses of Ovid and Other Myths (2020) or The Miser by Molière (2021), thus opening the pages of literary treasures to all readers.
