A partir de un episodio insólito como la revuelta de los animales de una granja, la novela de Orwell va tejiendo una historia de conspiraciones y desengaños, de manipulación y asesinatos, que culmina en el resquebrajamiento del mundo ideal e igualitario al que aspiraban sus protagonistas al liberarse del yugo de los hombres.
Después de la expulsión de los granjeros, Napoleón, líder de la rebelión, irá asumiendo paulatinamente características dictoriales. Sostenido en el animalismo, aparato ideológico creado y manipulado por los cerdos, ejercerá un poder despótico sobre el resto de los animales, quienes padecerán las consecuencias de un orden tiránico y brutal.
Más allá de sus claras alusiones a la política de la URSS, Rebelión en la granja puede leerse no solo como una crítica de dicho régimen, sino como un rechazo visceral a toda intención arbitraria de controlar la vida, la historia y el pensamiento de la humanidad.

Eric Arthur Blair (Motihari, British Raj, June 25, 1903-London, United Kingdom, January 21, 1950), known by his pen name George Orwell, was a British novelist, journalist, essayist, and critic born in India, author among other works of the dystopian novels Animal Farm (1945) and 1984 (1949)

His work bears the mark of autobiographical experiences lived by the author in three stages of his life: his position against British imperialism which led him to commit as a representative of the colonial law enforcement forces in Burma during his youth; in favor of democratic socialism, after having observed and suffered the living conditions of the working social classes in London and Paris; and against Nazi and Stalinist totalitarianisms after his participation in the Spanish Civil War, on the Republican side

In addition to being a chronicler, literary critic, and novelist, he is one of the most prominent essayists in the English language of the 1930s and 1940s. He is also known for his criticisms of totalitarianism in his allegorical short novel Animal Farm (1945) and his dystopian novel 1984 (1949), written in his last years of life and published shortly before his death, in which he creates the concept of "Big Brother," which has since entered the common language of criticism of modern surveillance techniques.

Está edición es prácticamente de lujo. 1. Tiene sobrecubierta negra (no roja) con el mismo diseño que sale en la publicación. 2. El material es exquisito negro mate y las letras rojas del título brillan 3. La cubierta es roja con una ilustración de los animales bastante cruda. En una solapa está la foto y biografía breve del autor, y en la otra solapa está del ilustrador (J. Becerra) 4. El papel es avena, tiene un prólogo + prefacio de 10 páginas sobre la libertad de prensa. 5. Tiene más de diez excelentes ilustraciones b/n a página completa. 6. Las letras son grandecitas y tiene buenos márgenes, haciendo más cómoda la lectura. Una joyita 100% recomendada.
