Barnum's story is a glimpse of early 19th century and a fascinating account of the impresario's life, a legendary promoter and marketeer. Still, he was much more than a showman, he was a politician and a city father; a teetotaler and deep thinker. In short, he was a unique man whose life story is worthy of attention. Barnum's own chronicle began with his 1855 "Life of P. T. Barnum." In 1869 he published the first edition of this "Struggles and Triumphs - Sixty Years' Recollections of P. T. Barnum." Four revisions followed first in 1870, then in 1872 and 1873. This 1889 edition is the last and most complete of all. An imperative for any history buff or any business- or marketing-major, in fact for anyone with ambition.
