Synopsis "the exceptional employee"

1913. This little book is not written so much for geniuses, or those who have had exceptional opportunities in life, as for persons of ordinary ability who have had only everyday opportunities. The men who have left their mark on the world seized common occasions and made them great. There have been but few great geniuses. It has never been men of ordinary ability and common virtues, with uncommon application, with supreme determination and persistence, who have won the great prizes of life.

Dr. Orison Swett Marden (1848–1924), an American writer and editor from the 19th and 20th centuries, was a pioneer in the field of personal development and success. Author of numerous books, including "Success Through Thought" and "How to Find the Ideal Job and Life," he inspired millions with his teachings.

He wrote mostly about how to achieve success in life and founded SUCCESS magazine in 1897. His writings discuss the principles and common-sense virtues that contribute to a successful and fulfilling life. Many of his ideas are based on the philosophy of New Thought.

His first book, "Pushing to the Front" (1894), instantly became a bestseller. Subsequently, Marden published fifty or more books and pamphlets, averaging two titles per year.
