2017 was a typical year in New Mexico high school football with Artesia winning its 30th state championship since 1957, and other traditional frontrunners also getting the big trophies. This is the ninth edition of the annual football record book, recording games from all schools since 1950 and through the 2017 season. This 390-page volume includes playoff records, league standings since 1953, coaching records and a summary of the 2017 season. It is a companion book to Volume I which is a 200-page narrative of the game's first 100 years in New Mexico (1892-1991) with over 60 pictures that emphasis that history. He has invested his time in this research starting in 1977 when he was living in Albuquerque. He has written other publications about local football history and is proud to say that, this year, he attended his 27th state championship game when the hometown Bayfield Wolverines won the title. He has attended such games from 1958 to now, and from Anchorage, AK to Artesia, NM.
