David M. Taylor is a British clinical pharmacist and academic, internationally recognized for his expertise in psychopharmacology. He is the Director of Pharmacy and Pathology at Maudsley Hospital and Professor of Psychopharmacology at King's College London. Since 1994, he has been the principal author and editor of The Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines in Psychiatry, a reference guide in the prescription of psychotropic drugs, whose 15th edition was published in April 2025. This work has sold over 300,000 copies and has been translated into 13 languages.

Additionally, Taylor co-wrote The Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines (2024) with Mark Horowitz, offering evidence-based strategies for the safe reduction of antidepressants and other psychotropic drugs. With more than 450 scientific publications in journals such as The Lancet and BMJ, his work has been cited over 25,000 times. He was recognized as one of the UK NHS's 100 clinical leaders in 2014 and is an honorary member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
