«Somos esa generación que en su infancia dejaba el mejor sitio de la mesa para el padre y que ahora se lo deja al hijo. Eso somos», dice Javier, el padre. 

Javier y Celia son un matrimonio de clase media con un hijo pequeño y una hija preadolescente. Él trabaja en una editorial y ella en un hospital; tratan de prosperar, mudarse a un barrio mejor. Hasta que un día invernal se marchan de excursión a los Pirineos, una excursión que lo cambia absolutamente todo.

Esta es la historia de un viaje al abismo que habla de otros muchos viajes. El viaje de la infancia a la convulsa adolescencia. El de los padres que caminan detrás con su culpa y llegan tarde. El de los abuelos que fueron delante y a los que nadie escucha. El que hace alguien para salvar una vida. También es la historia de ese otro viaje al que todos tenemos miedo: el que habla de nuestro pasado más oscuro y secreto.

Los incomprendidos es una novela sobre la soledad familiar, la incomunicación entre padres e hijos, el horror de decir, pero también, y desde la primera página, sobre la esperanza.

Pedro Simón (Madrid, 1971) is a journalist for the newspaper El Mundo and has won a dozen awards for his articles. Among them, the Ortega y Gasset Award 2015 in the Printed Journalism category for his series of reports La España del despilfarro and the Award for Best Journalist of the Year from the APM in 2016. In 2020, he was a finalist for the international awards of the Gabo Foundation. In 2021, he won the King of Spain Journalism Award.

He is the author of a dozen books among which his novels Peligro de derrumbe, Los ingratos (Primavera Novel Award 2021) and Los incomprendidos stand out. He has also published the reportage anthologies Siniestro total, Crónicas bárbaras, and Las malas notas and the essay Memorias del alzhéimer. He is one of the authors, along with Eduardo Madina, Javier Gómez Santander, and Antonio Lucas, of Perder la gracia, a generational chronicle in four voices published by Alfaguara.
